Student self-evaluation and reflection
"Students will be self-reflective about the production of own texts; they will monitor, self-evaluate and articulate learning." (English: Processes and Strategies Achievement Objective.)
Teachers can encourage reflective thought and action by constructing learning intentions and success criteria with the students, and designing tasks and opportunities so that students can reflect on their progress towards learning goals. This lies at the heart of the key competency Managing self.
When teachers discuss the purposes of the learning strategies they are using, students build their own repertoires of strategies and they learn to approach learning tasks in a strategic way.
