    From the Ontario Ministry of Education, ten approaches a teacher might adopt to enhance students' media literacy. Levels 1 to 8
  • Audio Visual Archives
    From Archives New Zealand, this site features 100 National Film Unit films, including Weekly Reviews and Pictorial Parade newsreels as well as one-off documentaries. It provides a unique insight into New Zealand's cultures and heritage and also contains information on the National Film Unit, Archives New Zealand's preservation work, and stories on filmmakers and films. Levels 1–8
  • Beyond the Movie: Lord of the Rings
    Explore the history, myths, and culture that shaped The Lord of the Rings. This multimedia website has information about J R R Tolkien, the history behind the story, images from the movie, and links to further information.
  • Breaking the News
    From Britains' Channel 4, a comprehensive guide to the critical analysis and production of television news, including a range of downloadable resources for the classroom. Levels 5–8
  • British Film Institute
    A huge repository of film information and links, including to Sight and Sound Online and the Museum of the Moving Image Online. The site also has a wealth of education resources and lesson plans. Levels 1–8
  • The Film Archive: On Disk Library for Secondary Schools
    These archived programmes are made available in digital format through the New Zealand Film Archive. The English/Media Studies collection supports NCEA prescriptions in these subjects, and there are disks for oratory, propaganda, New Zealand film, advertising, women, youth, and New Zealand identity themes. The education package for each disk includes a teacher’s booklet, with online lesson plans available for some. Borrowing the disks is free for New Zealand schools; orders can be made online from the site.
  • Film in the Classroom
    This PBS resource has sections on the language of film, adaptation from literature to film, and literary elements in film, as well as resources to support the study of films from Masterpiece Theatre.
  • Film Study
