Selecting texts
Teachers need to select a wide variety of text forms for students to experience and enjoy. We should consider choosing texts that:
- link to students' prior knowledge and cultural values and backgrounds
- are accessible and present a moderate challenge
- make connections to other texts and learning, and to the wider world.
Some texts may be explored by a class, and some text study may allow for differentiation and student choice.
